SGPOA Committees

ArtSocial Committee

The ArtSocial Committee provides Plantation owners with opportunities to enjoy visual, musical, and culinary arts.

Each year, the Committee sponsors the annual St. George Plantation Photography contest, showcasing the winning photos in the Magnolia Clubhouse lobby. They also offer classes to expand owners’ and visitors’ interests and creativity. The subjects of the workshops vary each year.

Throughout winter, and spring, the Committee coordinates shows ranging from paintings by local and visiting artists, and photography by professional photographers, to multi-media, fabric, and jewelry art. Opening receptions for the shows feature gourmet food prepared by local caterers and tables creatively decorated by the ArtS committee. Local or visiting musicians often provide background music or short concerts.

Bi-annually at the fall Homeowners’ weekend, owners display their artistic talents.

Recreation Committee

The Recreation committee organizes the fun times–everything from bridge and bunco to exercise classes and pickleball clinics! The Committee manages existing organized leisure activities and initiates new ones to offer owners and their guests a wide range of enjoyment, even sponsoring short-term classes and clinics (some fee-based) led by skilled instructors. It coordinates the activities calendar with the St. George Plantation Owners’ Association office.

Landscape Committee

Open to all owners who have an interest in preserving and enhancing the natural beauty of the Plantation, the Landscape Committee provides both policy and practice. It coordinates with the Infrastructure Committee for recommendations to the St George Plantation Owners’ Association Board of Directors on the allocation of resources for landscaping of common properties as well as guidance regarding furnishings, such as pool furniture and benches at viewpoints, for common areas. Most members claim little expertise in gardening or landscaping yet are dedicated to improving the appearance and sustainability of the community.
