There are few experiences more thrilling than kayaking or stand-up paddle boarding out on the Gulf and seeing dolphins frolicking nearby. Launching from the beach is an easy proposition; however, on many days the wind and waves do not cooperate.
Go Kayaking
Fortunately, you can also kayak on the bay. A kayak and canoe launch is available in the Nick’s Hole Cove area. The paths at the Cove are pedestrian only so you will need to transport your kayak or canoe from the vehicle parking area outside the chain link gate. This site is part of the 1,515-mile Florida Circumnavigational Saltwater Paddling Trail, which stretches from Pensacola around the Keys and up the Atlantic Coast. Sea kayaking is one of the nation’s fastest-growing outdoor sports and requires less infrastructure and fossil fuels than most other coastal boating activities. New technologies have made kayaks lighter and easier to maneuver, making the sport even more attractive to families and older citizens. Local kayak and canoe rental agencies deliver to homes in the Plantation and to Nick’s Hole.
