Annual Owners' Meeting

Welcome to the Annual Owners’ Weekend!

We are excited to welcome our owners home for the annual meeting October 16-18. Fall is a lovely time in The Plantation, and we are pleased that so many of you travel for this annual event. A lot of special activities are happening, beginning on Friday, October 16, and concluding Sunday, October 18. We encourage owners to take part in as many events as you can.

The schedule for the weekend is posted below. There are signups for the Friday night cocktail party and the cornhole tournament. See links below. Owners only are encouraged to attend the Saturday business meetings which will include the election of two board of director members, a budget workshop, a report-out of Plantation business and the board’s selection of officers for the next year. Guests are welcome at other events.

Various committees started planning for this event in August and we appreciate their efforts. Our committees are manned by volunteers and they’ve done a great job with this year’s offerings!

ArtSocial Committee

The ArtSocial Committee sponsors the annual cocktail party held the Friday night before the annual meeting. This event is from 5-8 p.m. in the Plantation Room of the Magnolia Clubhouse. This year’s event will have a welcoming island theme, a signature cocktail just for this event, and small plates from Tamara’s on the Go. You don’t want to miss this fun time!

The event is free for owners. Guests are $20 each and should be paid in advance; please make arrangements with the office to pay. Click here to sign up by October 9.

Recreation Committee

The Recreation Committee is sponsoring three days of activities open to owners and guests. These include:

A Friday morning fun run for all ages, with medallions for first, second and third place. An overall winner will receive a $50 gas card! All participants receive a complimentary Plantation Fun Run T-shirt. Join for the run but stay for Mimosas and Bloody Marys!
The traditional tennis social Friday morning at the Magnolia Court. Refreshments will be provided.
A first-ever cornhole tournament in the open area east of the Resort Village Pool starting Saturday afternoon. Grab a partner and come compete for bragging rights! The winning team also claims a cornhole board. Scan the QR code in the flyer below or register your team here.
Sunday morning pickleball closes out the weekend. We seem to have a growing number of players so this event promises to be a great time! If you’re not a player, come watch the fun you are missing and be inspired to learn the game!

Also as part of the weekend activities, we will have a ribbon cutting and grand opening of the newly renovated fitness center. More information is forthcoming. The fitness center is expected to reopen October 10.

Finance Committee

For the first time, the Finance Committee will present a draft budget during a budget workshop beginning at 9 a.m. on Saturday, October 17 in the Plantation Room, just before the Annual Owners’ Meeting.

This workshop will allow owners to see year-to-date financials through the end of September, and the estimated expenditures and revenues for the last three months of the year. This will provide a more comprehensive look for owners and allow them the opportunity to ask questions. Draft documents will be posted online prior to this meeting.
